USA Today Breaks No-Endorsement Policy, Says ‘Don’t Vote for Trump’

USA Today Says Trump ‘Unfit For President’

In a historic move, USA Today broke its 34-year tradition of no-endorsement policy in a presidential race. The board is not endorsing Hillary Clinton either, but they said Don’t Vote for Trump because Donald Trump is “unfit for presidency.”

USA Today says, the editorial board said that Trump has demonstrated repeatedly that he lacks the temperament, knowledge, steadiness and honesty that America needs from its presidents.

Aside from that, USA Today pointed out that the Republican nominee has betrayed fundamental commitments made by all presidents since the end of World War II. These commitments include relentless support for NATO allies, strong opposition to Russian aggression, and the absolute trust that the United States will make good on its debts.

The anti-Trump sentiments were published by the editorial board Thursday.

USA Today Endorsing Hillary Clinton?

After USA Today slammed Donald Trump’s presidential bid, the editorial board did not endorse Hillary Clinton. Though some of its members highlighted Clinton’s record, others listed some of her flaws including “serious reservations about Clinton’s sense of entitlement, her lack of candor and her extreme carelessness in handling classified information.”

The editorial board encouraged readers to follow their conviction and added, “Whatever you do, however, resist the siren song of a dangerous demagogue. By all means vote, just not for Donald Trump.”

Other Reasons Trump Should Not Be President

Aside from describing Trump as erratic, they said the presidential nominee is ill-equipped to be commander in chief. USA Today said Trump’s foreign policy pronouncements are incoherent.

In addition, the board said Trump traffics in prejudice particularly provoking resentment against Mexicans, Muslims and migrants.

USA Today said Trump speaks recklessly, once saying ISIS honors Obama and outrageously they said, “Obama is the founder of ISIS.”
