It appears President Trump turned the corner on his popularity rating with last Tuesday’s State of the Union address. A new poll shows his speech resonated with millions of Americans.
Trump’s approval rating shot to 50 percent after his address according to new Rasmussen Reports poll. It indicated viewers are standing behind his ideas for the economy, border security, foreign policy and his overall legislative agenda.
“The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 50% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-nine percent (49%) disapprove,” a Rasmussen spokesman revealed.
CBS News found in their polling that 80 percent of independents approved of President Trump’s State of the Union. It clearly indicated that Americans favor the booming Trump economy over socialism that would destroy it.

President Trump’s speech resonated with millions of Americans.
To no one’s surprise, most registered Republicans and Democrats can usually be expected to vote the party line, but independents can play a major role in elections. Look what Ross Perot did to incumbent George H.W. Bush in the 1992 presidential election. These voters can swing either way.
The president must continue to get his message out effectively if he wants to keep public confidence in him up. The Democrats continue to do their part in re-electing him by moving to a very small and focused base of far-left socialist voters.
