New Poll Shows 14 Percent Believe Obama Was Born Outside the U.S.

It’s no surprise that the most scrutinized position in this nation is the job of President of the United States – it’s axiomatic. Some people think you set yourself up for the scrutiny; some think it’s just the way things are. Much like a celebrity, every step you take will be examined, analyzed and reported. Barack Obama knows this, but the scrutiny of this man has gone to ridiculous, idiotic and tasteless levels.

The most ludicrous of all accusations against Obama is that he wasn’t born in the United States and does not possess a valid United States birth certificate. This constituency of paranoid troglodytes are known collectively as “Birthers.” A ridiculous name for a ridiculous pack of mutants; right on!

This has been speculated for a long time, however a new puke-inducing piece of information has surfaced: according to a new Washington Post/NBC News poll, 14 percent believe that Obama was born in another country, with nine percent claiming there is solid evidence to corroborate the claims of these Birthers. Those numbers are scary, folks.

First of all, how do you think Obama would have been elected President if he didn’t have the proper documentation? You must be a natural born U.S. citizen to run for President. Is that simple enough for you, Birthers? Well, we all know how much you enjoy complicating simplified matters, so here’s a more practical question:

WHERE IS YOUR PROOF?

As far as I can tell, according to urbanlegends.about.com, this entire rumor was started with a poorly-researched e-mail chain letter claiming that since his parents might not be citizens, Obama isn’t. The e-mail states: “US Law very clearly stipulates: ‘If only one parent was a U.S. citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16.'”

Now, take a look at this, stated from something called THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES: “The 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees citizenship at birth to almost all individuals born in the United States or in U.S. jurisdictions, according to the principle of jus soli.” Jus soli means “right of birthplace.”

Therefore, Barack Obama has been a citizen since birth in the UNITED STATES.

There has also been speculation that the birth certificate posted online to dispel the rumors that emanate from these cretinous Birthers was fabricated. Various “experts” who examined the image called it bogus and just a printed copy – not the real deal. However, to continue the trend of refuting angst-ridden cries of forgery from those who are ostensibly upset that an African-American is our President, Hawaii Department of Health spokesperson Janice Okubo said “It’s a valid Hawaii state birth certificate” when asked by the St. Petersburg Times’ PolitiFact.com website in June 2008. Factcheck.org also did an in-depth analysis of the certificate and deemed it valid.

However, no matter how much irrefutable evidence is presented, there are still people who believe that he was born in Kenya or wherever and is ineligible for the presidency. Here’s my advice to those people: Stop being angry, illogical and insufferable just because you’re upset that the black guy won. It’s as simple as that. Obama has enough to sort out from the dismal state that Bush left us in – let’s not be completely irrational.

Or, if you still truly believe we’re being run by a Kenyan Muslim extremist – you can always leave. I doubt very seriously the other 86 percent would miss your presence.
