Liberals Seek Votes at Expense of National Security

What do the Democrats really want out of immigration? That is a good question that has only one straight answer; votes. How else can it be explained after Thursday’s Senate vote?

The White House justifiably attacked liberal Democrat leaders after the Senate rejected legislation based on President Donald Trump’s immigration plan. His plan included three times the number of DACA illegals being able to stay than the Democrats had proposed.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders charged that “they (Democrats) are not serious” about a program to protect young illegal immigrants. Who can possibly say she is wrong?

Democrats Obstruct DACA, Create Campaign Issue

The final vote was 60-39. It can only mean one thing, the Democrats will not vote for anything Trump proposes, good or bad for them. They obviously want to make the DACA issue a campaign issue. Why would they not vote for something that gives them what they want?

Well, the measure had been sponsored by Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA). It needed 60 votes to clear a filibuster in the Senate. Maybe it was not only Trump’s idea but a Republican who introduced it. Forget about what is good for the nation to move ahead; it was not one of their people and that is not good to show the empty heads at midterm election time.

The White House Press Secretary rightly said, “The Schumer Democrats in the Senate demonstrated again that they are not serious about Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), they are not serious about immigration reform, and they are not serious about homeland security.” That statement is straight down the middle and right on point. She is absolutely correct.

Democrats Voted Against Americans

The proposal was more than a generous path by this compassionate country to allow these young illegals an opportunity at citizenship. But, and this is a big but, the Democrats did not like it because it contained reforms that secured our border and secured our immigration system.

Now the truth is told. That is exactly what the Democrats were thinking whether you are on one side or the other. It was purely political. They want their cake and eat it too. National security? Not part of their plan to attract a new generation of mindless voters.

That’s it for disgusted Republicans. The White House said it would now back a more hardline proposal from GOP Reps. Bob Goodlatte of Virginia and Michael McCaul of Texas, The Hill reported.
