Joe Biden’s Day Has Passed

Good ol’ crazy Joe Biden. The king of the gaffes is close to throwing his hat into the ring for the Democratic presidential nomination.

But Joe’s day may have passed while he ran errands for his boss, Barack Obama. Yet his presidential campaign seems more inevitable with each passing moment. The recent polls show him near the top in favorability, but will that last?

Biden has run for president twice in both 1988 and 2008. In both cases the Democrats were trying to unseat and Republican president. This time is no different. But that is where the similarities end.

Biden is not a young man and this is the year of young politicians running for president including Cory Booker and Kamala Harris. At 75, Biden is younger than Bernie Sanders (Bernie is 77), but the writing is on the wall.

Joe Biden The Relic

Joe seems like an ancient relic with the new socialism of his party. Perhaps Sanders’ socialist manifesto is on the ascent, but that is not Joe’s strong card and to portray that sort of political diatribe would be disingenuous.

Biden is old school business, rubber chicken dinners and political back-slapping. His method is a reliable center-left policy agenda with a genial down-home demeanor.

The political world has changed. After Mike Pence became vice president in 2017, Joe referred to him as a “nice guy.” That made the far-left explode. In today’s rough and tumble politics, a compliment like that is the equivalent of blasphemy.

In fact, Cynthia Nixon, the actress, twittered Joe as a “failed candidate” and he hadn’t said a word at that time about even running. The Democrats have turned hard left and sooner or later they will pay for it at the ballot box, but will that be early enough for 75-year old Joe?

Shifting Landscape

The political landscape has shifted under Biden’s feet. Forget saying anything kind about the opposition. There are no Ronald Reagan or Tip O’Neill politicians in the world of today. It is now dog eat dog and Joe is out of his element.

Add to that the fact he is an old white male. He has also poured cold water on the face of today; socialism. The sun has set on Joe Biden’s dreams of the presidency. The only one of his kind who has a fighting chance in the chaotic world of Democratic politics is none other than Hillary Clinton.

Ms. Clinton has a treasure trove of contribution monies from her last campaign plus the Clinton Foundation. She can afford to sit on the sidelines and watch the left beat each other to a pulp, run out of money and just move right in to fill the void.
