Attorney General Sessions Turning the Tables on Obama Administration

The beginning of the long-awaited “second front” on the administration of Barack Obama may have begun. After well over of a year of a no-evidence investigation into so-called Russian collusion by Donald Trump and others, the tide may be turning.

The Department of Justice announced Wednesday additional documents related to the Operation Fast and Furious scandal during the Obama administration will be released to the House Oversight Committee. This will not be good news for former Attorney General Eric Holder who may have considered himself home free.

While many in Washington and around the country have come to believe Jeff Sessions is a do-nothing law enforcement chief, they may be proven wrong. Sessions is a meticulous, by the book, former trial attorney. He does not believe it is prudent to divulge your political cards until the evidence is in.

In an announcement on Tuesday, Sessions’ statement read, “The Department of Justice under my watch is committed to transparency and the rule of law. This settlement agreement is an important step to make sure that the public finally receives all the facts related to Operation Fast and Furious.”

Fast and Furious was a DOJ operation under Holder that essentially was gun-running to the Mexican drug cartels. It is responsible for the shooting death of a U.S. border guard.

Americans have waited over six years for justice. Now in the light of day the concealed documents sought for are in evidence. The DOJ under Obama refused to release any of the materials. With the new administration, that is about to change.

Last summer, the House Oversight Committee announced a second look at the scandal. It involved an operation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) from 2009-2011. The plan was supposed to sell marked American arms to Mexican drug cartels. Then those weapons could be traced back and arrests made.

The thoroughly bungled operation created chaos with no arrests. The guns were indeed used by violent drug dealers to murder their rivals. The result was a dead US border agent and blood on the hands of an embarrassed Obama administration sworn to hide the details of their misdeeds.

Obviously there was a reason Eric Holder was keeping them from Congress. It will take a Republican administration to find out what it was. It appears this is the first step in Sessions’ DOJ to re-investigate scandal cover-ups that may include the IRS spying on conservative groups and Benghazi.

This may destroy a Holder presidential run.
