US-North Korea Summit: Will President Trump Agree To Meet Kim Jong Un at DMZ?

President Donald Trump welcomed historic pact between North Korea and South Korea.

It Could Be DMZ or Anywhere – No Definite Venue Yet!

The world is waiting for the historic meeting of President Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un in the coming days. Surely, it’s the meeting that the entire world will be watching. However, speculation started to surface if the meeting will be set in the demilitarised zone separating South Korea and North Korea. But this is not definite yet.

Media sources say South Korean President Moon Jae-In has convinced Kim to hold his upcoming meeting with Trump at the demilitarised zone or DMZ.

The sources reportedly say that there is a “strong possibility” the summit will be held at the site. One reason to consider the DMZ is that media facilities and equipment are already in place there.

In addition, many say the critical meeting may take place in Singapore. But this is unlikely for Kim, who is vigilant for possible attack and aside from that his plane is old which cannot withstand long travel.

Amid the different projections from different media online, it appears only President Trump and Kim Jong Un have the definite answer to the possible venue of the summit.

The famous Demilitarized Zone separates the two Koreas. It was where Kim and South Korean President Moon Jae-in met Friday for their historic summit.

Will Be Announced in the Coming Days

Whether it will happen in DMZ or any specific significant venue, President Trump stressed he just wants peace.

I want to get peace. The main thing – we want to get peace … We’ll see,” Trump told reporters during an event at the White House. “We’re setting up meetings right now and I think it’s probably going to be announced over the next couple of days – location and date.”

He added, “The main thing is to get it done. I want to get it done.”

Amid the rampant speculation of possible place of the summit between the two leaders, President Trump assured the public that the location and time of a meeting with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un on nuclear weapons disarmament could be announced in the coming days. This means, media outlets and the international community will just have to wait for further announcement from the White House.

Historic Meeting Between Two Koreas

The world was amazed by the touching reconciliation between North Korea and South Korea last week. Both Koreas have chosen peace over war as the long-time adversaries signed a historic pact that will formally end the Korean War 68 years after it began.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korea’s President Moon Jae-in met to sign the Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification on the Korean Peninsula. The document commits the two countries to a nuclear-free peninsula and talks to bring a formal end to the Korean War.

Both leaders met on the line that separates the divided Koreas. It was the first time a North Korean leader had ever set foot in the South.

The historic summit lasted for 8½-hours in the demilitarized zone. The leaders ended the summit with a formal dinner and a toast.
