Time to ‘Go Now’ with Inspirational Lifestyles, Inc. President Diane Di Donato

Diane Di Donato is President of Inspirational Lifestyles, a place where Women can just Be. Diane says women by nature are care givers, always giving to others. Women who attend the Inspirational Club give self-care to themselves, because, as she says, “Women are emotional beings and we require a little t.l.c.”

I interviewed Diane and learned a lot – and, given the time of year, I asked about her New Year’s Resolutions.

GG: In your opinion, how is meditation different than Bible study and prayer, and exercise?

Diane Di Donato: Bible Study is about learning the teachings and the Word and meditating on it. Prayer is communication and union with your Creator. Exercise is a form of movement.

Guided meditation is a way of quieting your mind and connecting with your inner self and your higher source. It is a tool to help you relax. It’s like a mini retreat for your mind, body, emotions, and soul. In this place of peace, you will also discover answers and guidance. I’ve made it easy and fun with the “Relax to Go” series. How is it similar to the above? The more you do it, the better you feel.

GG: How can mediation help us avoid stress when we have some much going in our lives besides school, work, and relationships?

DDD: Meditation, as little as 10 minutes a day, can help balance various aspects of your life. It reduces stress and anxiety. You will achieve a greater sense of relaxation. Clarity and focus will increase and physiological changes take place in your body. Stress is a given, [but] it’s how [to] respond to it. What you reacted to before doesn’t have the same effect on you. The demands of everyday living are a sure thing, not to mention the curve balls life throws at us once in a while.

GG: What about the economic recession and unemployment, for instance?

DDD: Events that are beyond our control continue to happen. Its how one responds to the situation. Worry, fear, and anxiety takes its toll on your health and well-being and doesn’t change the outcome. Guided meditation increases the feel good hormone, endorphins. Taking periodic breaks during the day is an emotional tool that can be used with that is going on in your life and the world. Right now, people are in fear regarding the reports on 12/21/12.

GG: In your bio, you studied Aikido, Tae Kwon Do, and Chi Kung, which I have no idea what that is. I took karate back in high school and ended with a 1st-degree red belt, so what marital art – and style – would you prefer and why?

DDD: Congratulations on your red belt! So you know the philosophy behind these eastern practices, such as focus, clarity, relaxation, and zen. Also, how powerful the mind and body are.

I like Aikido because it’s not about defeat and injury of your opponent. The student uses the opponent’s momentum to overcome him. Yeshiva developed this style of martial art and discovered a spiritual potential. Many executive empowerment companies teach this style.

GG: “Relax to Go” is a collection of tracks that can you help relax in ways of the jungle, so what animal would you consider yourself as and why?

DDD: Society, women, men and children have been intrigued with the innate and instinctual traits of the animal kingdom. I have created a collection of albums, one being the savannah and safari series. Each trilogy consists of 3 – 15 minute tracks. For instance, if you like the dolphins, with my soothing voice, I will guide you through your very own personal guided meditation. You will hear the sounds of the playful dolphin, sounds of the ocean and music I have chosen from around the world. I have embedded symbolic messages and you will feel totally relaxed.

The eagle is one of my favorites because they present themselves to me at retreats I have hosted. I have also been gifted with an eagle feather. We are continually evolving and each time I created another track I became so intrigued and captivated by each one.

GG: Besides meditation, how do you keep in shape 24-7?

DDD: I swim, and when I walk outside in nature, I get inspired for my CD’s. I also dance, and/or use free weights.

GG: Any upcoming events for the new year?

DDD: I am hosting a Spa Day in the early spring. We will have an outdoor walking meditation along with my personal guided meditation class, yoga, aromatherapy massage, different herbal teas, light lunch, pampering and nurturing. Something we all need and deserve.

GG: Do you plan on making any resolutions for 2013? If so, what are they and how would you maintain these resolutions, if possible?

DDD: My resolution is to continue with my personal development and spiritual enrichment. To promote my “Relax to Go” series because I know the powerful and healthful benefits of guided meditation Express my gratitude daily and to develop a relaxation series for children.

To maintain these resolutions, I write them, meditate on them and trust in my higher source to favor me with all the opportunities and the right people, so I can share guided meditation with everyone.
