Recall: Bacteria In Tylenol: Burkholderia Cepacia

Burkholderia Cepacia found at the Johnson and Johnson plant was responsible for the recall of children/ infants Tylenol- resistant to common antibiotics-according to The Food and Drug Administration.

The bacteria was found on some drums used to carry the raw material, and the drums didn’t reach plants that made the recalled drugs. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tested drums that were left from the lot, and they tested negative for bacteria.

“To the agency’s knowledge, no bacterially contaminated components were used in the manufacture of any of the recently recalled McNeill products. Also, testing done to date has not found bacteria in finished products,” The Food and Drug Administration.

The Food and Drug Administration explained that the recall affects 1,500 lots of drugs dispersed in the United States and internationally.
