Three Face Death Sentence After Gruesome Murder

A Morigaon court pronounced the death sentence for three persons found guilty of the abduction and gruesome murder of a youth four years ago.

Delivering the 108 page judgement by the Morigaon district and Session court, Judge Ikramul Hussain sentenced the three mean to death. The three suspects, Mohan Teron, Sanjay Chand and Bhim Das were convicted under Sections 302 and 34 of the IPC for the abduction and murder of a 21 year old Jagiroad youth.

Jagiroad is located in the hilly middle Assam district of Morigaon.

The convicted men were found to have abducted Arup Dutta, a 21 year old, the son of Apu Dutta, a Jagiroad town businessman, on July 17, 2011 and they later murdered the young man.

The trio buried Arup Dutta’s body in dense forest in Karbi Anglong. They demanded a ransom from the businessman to release his son.

The businessman contacted police after receiving the abductors’ calls and police located and apprehended them.

The three men claimed responsibility for the crime and the boy’s body was recovered by security personnel from the dense forest area.
