Medical device company, Med-Care Diabetic & Medical Supplies Inc, was raided today by FBI agents, according to a Reuters report. The Florida company’s executive vice president, Danny Porush, helped inspire the movie “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
Acting with local police, the FBI sent dozens of agents from its Florida fraud department to the building at 933 Clint Moore Road, Boca Raton, FL 33487.
The police and FBI closed entrances to the building, and removed boxes of files, Reuters reported a witnesses said.
When Reuters asked the FBI about the raid, the FBI spokesman would only say they were conducting “law enforcement activity in the vicinity.”
Danny Porush is a top executive at Med-Care and inspired the character portrayed by actor Jonah Hill in “The Wolf of Wall Street,” which told the story of defunct brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont Inc.
Danny Porush was the defacto director of Stratton Oakmont after Jordan Belfort was arrested, but Belfort gave evidence on Porush, in a deal for a lighter sentence.
Back in the late 1990’s to early 2000, Danny Porush was imprisoned for 36 months, on securities fraud, conspiracy, insider trading on the Steve Madden deal and he did his time with Steve Madden.
Porush was formerly the owner of a medical supply company prior to moving to Stratton Oakmont.
It has been said he just threw a lavish Christmas party for Med-Care which apparently cost over $200k, and he just purchased a $10 million house in Miami.
Established in 1999, the Med-Care medical/pharmacy supply company says it was founded on the highest principles of patient care and service, offering home delivery and money savings for Medicare and private insurance patients.
