White House Loose Lips Empowering Al-Qaeda

It seems The occupants of The White House love to brag about military things, to show they are tough on terrorists. Unfortunately, loose lips sink ships, and they get SEALs, spies and informants killed.

There was recently an al-Qaeda event in Yemen. If the U.S. intelligence community had known about it, a couple of drones could have ended their party.

It wasn’t to be, because some blabbermouths gave away the secrets that would have allowed interception and tracking. Big mouths that caused a lack of intelligence ruined the chance to strike our nation’s enemies.

According to retiring Michigan Rep. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula have changed their communications operations because they were tipped off by leaks from The White House. We know this because of a hidden video that captured a meeting of over 100 members of al-Qaeda in Yemen months ago.

Rogers asks the question: did U.S. intelligence knew about this gathering? Were they “asleep at the switch?” Or did they receive no intelligence until it was over? If they knew about it beforehand, it would have been the perfect occasion for a drone strike, especially considering that high-level leaders were there. The video footage, posted on jihadist websites shows the number two al-Qaeda leader, Al-Wuhaushi, at the event. Al-Wuhaushi appears to make direct threats against the United States.

Because of the blabbermouths, al-Qaeda has gone back to low-tech and is using old-fashioned couriers to deliver key messages.

A translation of what Al-Wuhaushi says in the video is: “We must eliminate the cross. The bearer of the cross is America.”

Rogers told CNN he couldn’t reveal if the U.S. intelligence community knew about the meeting or not. His gut feeling is they were not. “Those series of leaks have had a consequence. I think they have these meetings more often than people realize,” Rogers said.

The retiring congressman’s conclusion is that Al-Qaeda is now feeling “empowered” because it believes the West doesn’t know what to do.
