The Day After or a Year After: Hard times Coming

I remember the movie, The Day After that reflected the USA the day after the Atomic War started. Ever wonder what it really would be like the day after an Atomic war began and we had been bombed?

Instead of an attack from an enemy we might want to understand what will happen the year after another year of this President’s reign.

I was born in the depression and only saw a little of what it was like, as I grew up.

Life During The Depression

I remember our family driving in the middle of winter across Loveland Pass in Colorado. My father had found a job in Utah and we hurried to get there before it was gone. We lived in a two room motel after we arrived and it was so cold and snowy. It had a small cooking stove and a ice box…

It was in a little town called Provo Utah, in the middle of a cold winter. My sister was old enough to go to school but I was only four then. We arrived late on a Sunday night and everything was closed.

Mormons Helped Us In Tough Times

The first night was difficult and I was hungry; in fact everyone was hungry. It was a Mormon town and no stores were open on Sundays and no restaurants were open either. The lady who owned the motel gave us some food to get by for that night, but I remember I was still hungry. We ate lots of beans that winter.

Dad worked there until late spring, when we returned home to Denver. The Mormons were very nice people and gave dad credit at a supermarket until he got paid. They seemed to be very nice people. There was a Catholic church and mom took us to church every Sunday while we were there.

Times were tough and people cared enough about others to be more than helpful. The depression was difficult and trying to all people who endured those days. But remember, many of those same people became the Armed forces, that fought World War II.

Today our economy is poor and people are not as resilient as those who lived and endured in the 1930’s. If this generation has to endure what happened in the nineteen thirty’s I’m not sure many could get through that kind of a hard life.

Predicting Hard Times Ahead

I seldom make predictions but this nation is headed for difficult times and I just hope we are ready.

If this president wins it will be nice for awhile but when the money runs out and the banks close and work becomes non-existent, then I guess we will determine who “The greatest generation” is. It feels like our days of plenty are coming to an end, and just like the movie “The Days of Wine and Roses, it will be over. A tragic end is in plain view.

Our world is about to change and only those who know how to survive will make it through the tough times ahead and come out the other end of the changing times. If we make it, hope to see you on the other side of the warp in time.

Belt Up For A Rough Ride Ahead

Tragic as it may seem now for this beautiful nation, full of liberty, freedom, and abundant life, it will come to a frightening end and only the true in heart will make it to the other side. Button up, put on your safety belts and hang on, because we are going for a ride and few of us will make it. The only thing that can help us is our faith in God and our love for one another.
