Suddenly Congress Is Doing Great!

Can y’all believe it?

Things sure can change in just the blink of an eye, can’t they? Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like just over this past week:

1. Things seem to have quieted down a bit over in North Korea. We’re not hearing a whole lot of rumblings out of Iran, either. In fact, it even seems quieter over in France and Greece these days.

2. The stock market seems to be holding its own, slowly advancing upwards most every day. The general economic climate at least appears to be stable at present.

3. There’s not a lot of partisan, bitter vitriol coming out of the capital these days. It almost feels like the President, Senate, and House are actually co-existing relatively well and working together on some items. Quite a change from the past couple of years, huh?

4. More specifically, it doesn’t seem like either the House or Senate are haggling these days over job creation, taxes, government spending, various government programs, treaties with foreign lands, and the like. In fact, it’s almost like a new spirit of harmony, albeit a grudging one, is starting to gain a foothold up in Washington.

I wonder why this is happening?

Could it be that the 24/7 news cycle is helping. The constant reporting of news literally up to the second means our populace is better informed and that we’re holding them more accountable? Or maybe it’s that we’re reading more, looking at the issues closer, and using our computers to read the latest politically themed material soon after it comes onto our computer screens? Or maybe it’s that we’re generally more literate, more informed as a populace, and as a result we’re demanding more out of our political leaders? Or maybe its that they’ve all just suddenly wised up, realized what they were doing before wasn’t working, and have now decided to try to work together and see what results? Wouldn’t that be something?

Or…..I was just informed of this. Ummm, could it be that Congress has been on recess since December 22nd so nothing is happening up in Washington?

Could that be it? And if that’s the case, could it be possible that things are actually running more smoothly without Congress than with them? And if that’s the case then it opens up a Pandora’s box that I don’t even need to go into here, there are much better writers than I that can take care of that. Most of all for me, though, does it mean that I wrote an article here that absolutely has no point to it because of something so obvious?

Never mind……
