Obama Determined to Make Deal With Iran Even If It’s a Bad Deal

opinions, ideas.

Many pundits are asking if Secretary of State John Kerry is desperate to make a nuclear deal with Iran. After the previously-imposed deadline to cement an agreement passed last Wednesday, some thought that was the end of it, but now the parties have agreed to extend the talks until June.

That is the reason that desperation appears to be the order of the day for the U.S. delegation in Switzerland.

Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton, known to be one of Barack Obama’s harshest critics is under no illusion that U.S. negotiators will come away with a good real. Bolton is also extremely critical of Secretary of State John Kerry, and he fully expects Kerry to ink a deal even if it is bad for the U.S.

Speaking to Greta Van Susteren on Fox News Channel’s On the Record, Bolton said “John Kerry will declare success in Geneva even if he has to do it on April Fool’s Day. I will bet on it. If so, Kerry won’t have to wait long. Tuesday marks the negotiations’ deadline.”

We all now know the deadline passed and Kerry agreed to extend the long and arduous talks with the terrorist state. Few outside of the Administration are happy about that, especially many of our Arab allies and Israel.

Bolton told Van Susteren he actually agrees with former top U.S. enemy, Syrian President Bashar Assad, who told Charlie Rose that U.S. airstrikes aren’t defeating Islamic State (ISIS) militants. Even though ISIS is losing battles on the ground, it is winning thousands of new recruits each month. Assad also said it is time for Syria to hold talks with the United States.

John Bolton says Assad is well aware that Obama is desperate to make a nuclear deal with Iran, and he feels he can save his battered regime at this time. In fact, Assad works closely with Iran, and Iran is probably keen for Assad to run interference on The White House.

Whatever the outcome of the negotiations with Iran, there will be clear winners and losers in the Middle East if a deal is struck, and the weak handling of Iran by the U.S. may already have started a nuclear arms race in the Middle East.
