King Nazir Muhammad Divorces His Race Identity

Writer/Activist King Nazir Muhammad, who is currently known by most people as an African American, today announced to NewsBlaze.com his divorce from “Race Titles.”

Divorcing Black – #SayGoodbye2Black

Muhammad has been a long-time advocate for many causes involving sexual injustices as well as race pride. But he now wishes to end the race argument in his own life by divorcing from his current title of African American or “Black.”

Muhammad released a letter addressed to President Obama asking that his nationality be legally changed to simply “Human.” ( See The Full Letter Here) Muhammad explains in detail his reasons for wanting this symbolic divorce, stating that the title to him has become an invisible prison. And he says that because of the mismanagement of the title by many among the black race, he now feels socially enslaved by it. In his Quest as a writer, to destroy restrictive thinking, he says he must take this step to destroy what he deems to be the supreme boundary that divides humanity – and that is – the chains of color identity.

King Nazir Muhammad declared that even if his nationality is not legally changed, he will no longer act or think in line with what the world perceives as a “Black” person. He will only consider himself “a Human” and all of his actions and thinking will be in line with that of a human and not that of a slave in submission to any identity other than “human.”

“Race used to be a source of Pride for me, but now it has become like shackles that I wear, that identify me with all the stigmas associated with it – stigmas that someone else created for me. And to continue to wear those shackles out of obligation makes me a slave to those that created the stigmas.” – King Nazir Muhammad

What Muhammad is doing sounds like the end to an unhealthy marriage … and the words slave and bondage come to mind … but it should be understood that it is only the title of being black that he is divorcing … and claiming only to be human.

The race titles are too limiting for Muhammad, and he says too many stigmas come along with them. Being labeled “a black person” seems to be the worst one to him, because he feels as though he is being confined or enslaved within the borders of what that title allows him to be.

Will There Be An Executive Order?

Asked if he wanted to be another race, or to create a new race, he said “I don’t want to be known as black or identified with some other race, other than human. I simply want to be called human.”

That is the reason he wrote to Obama, asking for the ability to officially divorce black, and to have his nationality legally changed. If there is agreement, it may take an executive order to achieve it, because such a Bill is not likely to pass through the current Senate.

He says that even though this might seem like a radical concept to some, he feels sure that many other people would agree with him.

The reasons for this will be devastating to some people

Asked what brought him to take these steps, writing to president Obama and asking for a divorce from the black race, Muhammad said he wasn’t comfortable divulging that right now, he needed a week to decide how he should portray it, because he didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but there might be no other way.

Devastating Race Identity Divorce

King Nazir Muhammad said the things he had to say would be “devastating” to some people, and he would make the announcement a week from now.
