How To Approach The Case for African American Reparations

slaves taken to be sold

With this piece I want to lay out a clear cut basis for a case for African Americans to obtain reparations for the slavery of our ancestors here in America. And by doing so, I want to introduce the correct perspective of the issue that will be needed before any effective actions can be taken.

First, it must be understood that the United States Government is not the one to be sued to get these long awaited funds. That is the first mistake in our thinking, because just as most people we have a tendency to divert attention away from the real culprit, because subconsciously, we know that the problem is usually more close to home than we like to admit.

But if there is to ever be justice for our ancestors’ slavery, we must identify the root cause of “how” they became slaves in the first place.

And in the case of slavery, the “buyer” is somewhat innocent in the deal and may only be charged with being “immoral.”

The true blame lies with the “Seller” because the transaction would have never taken place without them. In the law you don’t hold the drug user responsible, you hold the seller responsible – and the same principle applies with our case.

And with that mind-set, the identity of the true law-breaker is revealed to us.

We must ask how did our ancestors become slaves? Who was the seller?

The truth is our black brothers in Africa put them on the market to be sold and their mistreatment after the fact can be attributed to that as well.

Although i am not an advocate of any particular religion, I have to bear witness that the biblical story of “Joseph” and how his own brothers sold him into slavery rings a bell in our situation. And also the story of “Judas” and how he sold out Jesus for financial gain rings a bell as well.

Maybe these stories have been speaking to us the whole time.

Also, I wanted to mention that in a recent news story, the African King of Porto-Novo, whose name is Kpoto-Zuumme Hakpon III came to America and offered an apology to African Americans for Africa’s involvement in our slavery.

So, the evidence is there to use to build a case against the descendants of those that sold us. It now takes the courage for African Americans to seek legal means to get our reparations from them. And there may be more than just a monetary pay off, there may be birth rights to land and other valuable resources.

We may be in the blood line of royalty – but we will never know until we launch a serious investigation into it.

We must unite all of the minds and resources and organizations we used to try to undermine America and focus it solely on this cause. Because with all of our hate and resentment focused against white people, the truth is that it is misdirected time and energy.

The sobering reality is that the enemy we thought was external has been right here in our own family.
