Remember Susan Rice?
Once again, the White House presents non-fiction to the American people that should be categorized as fiction.
Remember Susan Rice, the UN Ambassador the White House pushed out onto the Sunday news shows to hoodwink the media on the Benghazi debacle?
Initially it was rumored she’d be President Obama’s choice for secretary of state, but after making her the fall guy in the botched attempt to cover up the Libyan murders of the American Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others, it now appears her “reward” for playing the stooge to save then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (and keep her 2016 presidential hope alive) will be the post of national security advisor.
Huh?
What’s The President Thinking?
The rumor has it she will be nominated to replace Thomas Donilon. The source is The Washington Post, citing an administration official (unnamed of course) who is familiar with the president’s thinking.
It is being reported that Ambassador Rice “has emerged as far and away the front-runner.”
There is little doubt such a presidential move will rile the Republicans, most notably Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC). Rice withdrew her name for secretary of state shortly after widespread criticism from Graham and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) erupted on Capitol Hill.
Sen. John. Kerry
The State Department position was then offered to Sen. John. Kerry (D-MA) who slid through confirmation with basically no problems. He claims Obama had made him his number one choice.
Sure.
As Kerry put it, “He called me, actually a week before Susan got out of the thing,” Kerry told The Boston Globe. “He called me and said, ‘You’re my choice. I want you to do this.’ He asked me to keep it quiet. I did. I sat on it.”
We will now have a secretary of state capable of keeping a secret. A remarkable accomplishment for the Obama administration.
Obama Thrusting Rice Back Into The Spotlight
The key to Obama thrusting Rice back into the spotlight of national security advisor is the key factor that it does not require senate confirmation. Although Rice would have a heavy influence on foreign policy, all McCain and Graham can do is loudly protest while the president pays back his friend with a top position for being the shield for Hillary Clinton.
It will be a fight nevertheless, as Republicans portray her role in the attacks on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya, as a spontaneous response to an anti-Islamic video. “We know that the story told by Susan Rice on 16th of September that the consulate was significantly, substantially and strongly secured has collapsed,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told Fox News host Sean Hannity last week.
“We know her story and the president’s story that there was no evidence of an al Qaeda attack, caused by a hateful video that led to a spontaneous riot, has collapsed. We know that the story they told us for weeks after the attack no longer holds water,” Graham added.
President Obama Continued The Lie
Two weeks later at the U.N., President Obama continued the lie to the General Assembly and his campaign for re-election kept the truth unknown until his victory last November.
Neither McCain nor Graham have forgotten, and for that matter Mitt Romney and millions of the American people.
A secretary of state capable of keeping a secret – a remarkable accomplishment for the Obama administration.
How will the mainstream media cover this one? That question seems to be the most obvious.
