Crossfire War – TEHRAN WATCH – Economic Theatre: Tehran/New York – UNSC; Tehran Warns Oil Will Exceed $200 per Barrel if Sanctions Imposed by Security Council – Confrontation in Late August

Night Watch: TEHRAN – The economic front is about to open up. Speaking to reporters in Caracas on Friday was Iran Deputy Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mohammadi who announced that if the United Nations Security Council imposes sanctions on Iran, if Tehran refuses to halt its uranium enrichment program, then Tehran can respond by causing the price of a barrel of oil to exceed $200, tripling the current price. Tehran can do so by reducing its oil exports. Such action will dramatically increase the cost of the industrialized world’s economic lifelines. [IRNA]

It is significant he was speaking in Caracas. OPEC has never been more united since the energy crisis of 1973 and in Venezuela there is a head of state who hates the United States at least as much as Iran does. Tehran will by no means be acting alone. Every OPEC nation has voiced support for Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

Tehran’s reponse, leading OPEC, will triple the cost of any operation in the oil industry, not to mention industrial-business services that rely heavily on fuel, like the airlines, international shipping and overland transportation. The cost of energy exploration will triple, as will the cost of refining, distrubtion and eventually the cost at the pump. This is an integral part of Iran and the Jihad’s economic agenda. Not only will it give Islamic countries more influence in global energy markets but will also cause an economic crisis in the industrialized world, perhaps even chaos. Tehran-Riyadh-Algiers-Kuala Lumpur-Khartoum and the Gulf States will be laughing themselves all the way to the bank.

The deadline the UNSC has called for is August 31. Tehran has never given any impression that it will comply. Iran knew the confrontation was coming and has actually been making it the center of its foreign policy for the past three years as they were completing their military-industrial preparations for war. A year ago their then leading negotiator, Hassan Rowhani, was seen laughing at the European Union on Iranian television. That was when the EU-3, London-Paris-Berlin, had taken over the negotiations from the UN International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) based in Vienna, and were leading the negotiations to suspend Iran’s nuclear weapons program. But Rowhani admitted that Iran never really suspended anything and just used the EU to buy more time and add to Iran’s stockpile of nuclear material-weaponry.

The world may see the result of Iran’s 20 year nuclear weapons program, employing who knows how many Russian scientists, before this year is over. The designated targets for it are the West-Russia-India, Iran’s three main economic rivals.
