Night Watch: PRISTINA – The image and newsphoto of a bomb explosion during NATO’s 78-day bombing campaign in 1999, from the cover of Time magazine, is just the latest indication the war of words now raging between Brussels-NATO and Belgrade-Serbia, is about to become a shooting war once again instead of a shouting one. After the air campaign, leading the way for NATO’s troop occupation, an organization I then was a member of, The Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, had a gathering, which celebrated the war, and it was called PAX NATO. I refused to attend because I knew the peace (order) Brussels has established was an illusion and this was hardly in any way comparable to the end of the First or Second World War. The mad rush to conquer Pristina’s air strip in 1999 was not at all on the same scale as the advance to Berlin in 1945, nor was is comparable to 1918 and All Quiet on the Western Front. The Council’s celebration was just a small indication of how easily manipulated people are, just with the use of imagery, and their eagerness to embrace a false sense of security, especially since the established audience and NATO assumed the bombing campaign would only take less than a week. A gathering I did attend was late that March when former U. S. Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger spoke and it just so happened he spoke the night NATO’s air campaign began. I was not surprised he stated he would have preferred a diplomatic solution but admitted that if he were Secretary of State, he would be obliged to go along with the war. That was his way of hinting whom government officials are obliged to; industrial services that arm the military and they love the war business, their preferred investment, unless the war gets out of their control as the next wave of fighting will reveal. Now Kissinger is in Moscow working with the Russian government to coordinate American air support for Russia’s campaign in the South Caucasus against Turkey-Iran’s support of Georgia as the Islamic world attempts to control the resources of the Black and Caspian Sea region. The reason why Moscow is in a position to do so is Russia realized the crisis in the former Yugoslavia, orchestrated in the name of the New World Order had created continental discord once again and divided more than Yugoslavia so they wisely withdrew after 1999. In the meantime Dr. Kissinger probably knew if NATO had any real strategic sense it would have been in the Caucasus, fighting alongside Russia when war first erupted there in 1994 Chechnya, securing the region’s energy fields and pipelines from any chance of Tehran-Ankara controlling them even if it meant taking the war to Iran’s border. Defeating Tehran in the Caucasus would have ended any war and nuclear crisis with Iran before 2000. Even if (f)allout war began then Tehran would have had less to launch than it has now.
But in NATO’s perverted thinking it wanted war with Serbia instead and now Belgrade has rearmed with Moscow’s direct support. Belgrade also signed a security agreement with Tehran in January 2006 and with Athens last November. Tehran does not care how the war resumes as long as it can be used to keep NATO proudly out of position and silences Vienna, the investigation of Iran’s nuclear weapons program by the UN agency based there. This is not 1999 and based on the hostile policy statements of Serbia’s leadership they want war and not with Albanians but with NATO. Another Serbian cabinet minister is now targeting Brussels as being the obstacle to any negotiated Kosovo settlement, Serbian Education Minister Aleksandar Popovic. He is re-stating Belgrade’s suspicions of Brussels’ real reason for wanting to continue its military occupation of the province with 16,000 NATO troops. Popovic accused NATO of wanting “an allegedly independent Kosovo where NATO had unlimited authority with no civilian supervision. There is no state in the world, and this is especially true of those belonging to NATO, where armed forces are not placed under strict civilian control.” That is a very elegant, understated way of saying Brussels’ position is completely unrealistic, unjustifiable and untenable.[FOCUS]
The Serbian government of Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica is in reality justifying attacking NATO right now. Brussels has of course heard their highly broadcast salvo of statements and has finally responded through their spokesperson Colonel Michael Knop who responded by saying NATO would not allow Serbian police and troops to re-enter the province. The mystery of how the next war resumes has now been solved. When NATO is defeated and forced out of the province Albanians and Serbs will settle the dispute between themselves. I suspect Kosovo Albanians and the Albanian government in Tirana are also agreeing among themselves that Brussels is more of an obstacle than any real support and that Brussels never really supported them, but only used them for NATO’s own ridiculous power projection. A power projection, which instead of establishing order, resurrected old European hatreds that were supposed to have been buried with the Second World War. [RFERL]
