Biden Attempts to Change The Subject Away From Obamacare

The show is becoming old hat to seasoned observers. The White House hits the skids on one aspect of its administration and roars back with something to change the subject.

This time, they sent out a different clown as the front man, so any bad press would be well-shared and so it could be more easily dissipated.

Joe Biden was the chosen one for this event, and the old switcharoo was not the smoking heap of garbage, Obamacare, it was comprehensive immigration reform.

Pundits are thinking the Obama administration and democrats have a new two-pronged strategy to gain and hold Hispanic voters in the November midterms, sidelining for a while the Obamacare debacle. Biden came out doing his best clown impression, with the canard that turning undocumented immigrants into full American citizens would “help boost the economy and improve foreign relations.”

Improve foreign relations? What is he smoking?

Speaking to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Joe Biden, the affable man known more for ridiculous gaffes more than serious speeches, was the sacrificial lamb, trying to change the subject. It is a hard sell, but what else can they do? Polls show that Latinos are completely disillusioned with the president’s immigration policies and his lack of any legislative movement. Latino pro-immigration groups have been pushing back at the president, because the promised golden prize for breaking US immigration laws has not materialized.

Biden came out with one of his best jokes yet. He said, “These people are just waiting, waiting for a chance to be able to contribute fully. And by that standard, 11 million undocumented aliens are already Americans, in my view. They just want a decent life for their kids and a chance to contribute to a free society, a chance to put down roots and help build the next great American century. I really believe that. That’s what they’re fighting for.”

No matter that they all broke the immigration laws of this country, no matter that most of them may have used illegal, stolen or forged documents, no matter that they illegally worked. The law may be an ass, but the law is the law.

The Democrat-controlled Senate passed its comprehensive immigration bill last year and since then, the outnumbered House Democrats have attempted to present their version of reform. Although they have tried a number of times, House Democrats have so far failed to bring their bill to the house floor.

Back in The White House, there were murmurs of approval of Biden’s speech, which it is suspected they wrote, and they reiterated the administration’s backing of the Senate-passed bill which the House Democrats’ efforts are based.

This may be a sign of things to come, where they send out a different clown for each part of their strategy and then follow it up with cheerleading from The White House. That prevents all the mud from sticking to one person and devaluing them as a player.

In his speech to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Biden said, “The single most important thing we can do for our economy, for America’s future, is to pass immigration reform now. It’s the single most important thing we can do. I’ve heard for too damn long about how this was going to bankrupt us, that Social Security was going to take a nose dive and so on. Well guess what, it’s a game changer financially for the country.”

So according to Democrats, it is OK to throw the rule of law into the garbage can, if you can make a quick buck out of it, and never mind what else it might do to the country.

The Congressional Budget Office figures that he presented, showing a 20-year projection on the economy, were met with skepticism.

The White House has been highly critical of OMB projections on the future job market and the impact of Obamacare. Those projections were unfavorable to their cause, so Biden used numbers that were favorable, in an effort to attract liberal progressive and Hispanic support. It was a typical hypocritical campaign tailor-made for his audience.

Bending Abraham Lincoln’s words from his 1858 speech in Clinton, Illinois, it might be said that politicians can lie to some of the people some of the time, in order to get the support they need.

In his effort to rally voting support in the California Hispanic community, Biden urged House Speaker John Boehner, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.) to allow a vote on an immigration bill.

The fact that there is also growing anger in the Hispanic community over the Affordable Care Act.

The White House and the democrats are stirring up a hornets nest, pitting Hispanic citizens and Hispanic illegals against American Citizens.

The White House and Joe Biden might feel pleased with their new strategy, but their attempts to change the subject away from Obamacare don’t fool anyone.
