Adem Demaci Is The Eternal “Father of Kosova”

Who was Adem Demaci?

Adem Demaci was an Albanian prisoner, disident, political leader, pacifist and democrat from Kosova country of the Ethnic Albania (Balkans of the Southern Europe). He was like Nelson Mandela of South Africa and Mahatma Gandhi “Father of India.”

Kosova Father, Adem Demaçi was born in 1936 and died on 26 July 2018 in the capital city of Prishtina. As a youth student of the high school in Prishtina. He illegally started to revive the idea of Kosovo’s independence from colonial and militarist Serbia which had divided it by violence, terror and genocide killing, massacring and expelling millions of native Albanians from their houses and territories in Ethnic Albania (1912-1999).

Adem Demaçi was determined to reject the exterminating and genocidal politics of Serbia. He fought ideologically, politically, democratically and peacefully seeking to protect the human rights and freedoms of the Albanian people of Kosovo to be equal to the other people in Yugoslavia (1945 -1990).

However, for these fair, democratic, peaceful and lawful demands, the totalitarian communist regime of the Socialist Yugoslavia led by Josip Broz Tito arrested, jailed and sentenced Adem Demaci to 28 years in prison (1958-1990).

After release from prison in 1991, Adem Demaçi was awarded with the “Sakharov Prize for Human Rights and Freedoms “ by the European Parliament.

It should be underlined that Adem Demaçi, during the years 1990-1999, never disagreed with the invasion policy of Slobodan Milosevic’s Serbia, neither with Ibrahim Rugova’s capitulated policy as a leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) who for ten years (1989-1999) didn’t do anything beneficial that Kosova gets its independence and freedoms from genocidal Serbia.

The asymmetry between Adem Demaci and Ibrahim Rugova lies in the fact that Rugova tried to resolve the Kosovo problem through talks with Serbia’s oppressor and killer President Slobodan Milosevic, while Adem Demaci (like Mahatma Gandhi in India) sought through peaceful activism of the progressive Albanian political forces of all-round resistance to fight and to drive out the Serbian enemy from Kosova.

The comparison of Adem Demaçi as “Father of Kosova” with Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi is completely natural and equivalent.

Adem Demaç’s wild enemies and adversaries boycotted and marginalized him from the state-politics scene from 1990 to 2018. His comparison with Mandela and Gandhi is very natural because all three were dissidents, inmates and brave warriors, patriots, democrats, and unwavering, progressive peacekeepers for the protection of human rights and freedoms of their colonized and suppressed people. Nelson Mandela on the continent of Africa (South Africa), Adem Demaçi on the continent of Southern Europe (the Balkans) and Mahatma Gandhi on the continent of South Asia.

This de facto and de jure was confirmed by international significant remuneration for the protection of human rights and freedoms, Nelson Mandela received the Nobel Prize from the Nobel Committee in Norway in 1993, while Adem Demaçi received the Sakharov Prize from the European Parliament in 1991.

This is the undeniable symmetry of their human deeds as acceptable and justifiable universal value in the world. Here, there is nothing invented and imagined as in the case of Ibrahim Rugova’s absurd comparison with Mahatma Gandhi because Rugova’s politics for a full decade was subordinated and without any concrete political outcome for the liberation and independence of Kosovo from genocidal and aggressive Serbia (1989-1999).

Rather, the passive peace policy of Ibrahim Rugova (1989-1999) does not match ( is asymmetric) in any segment with the principles and objectives of the doctrine and the practice of the ACTIVE PEACE RESISTANCE of the political philosophy of MAHATMA GANDI in his struggle against the apartheid of the English invaders.

Rugova wasn’t like Adem Demaci “Father of Kosova,” nor like Mahtama Gandhi “Father of India” nor as Nelson Mandela a fighter against British apartheid in South Africa because he didn’t bring independence of Kosova during ten years as a political leader of his political party. Rugova was the leader of LDK ( Democartic League of Kosova) as well as a “President” of Republic Kosova (1990-1999) established by the illegal “Assembly of Kosova” in the town of Kacanik on 7 September 1990 who declared Kosova as an independent republic. On May 24, 1991, the Albanians in Kosova held a Referendum in which they chose their representatives of the Parliament as well as the President of Kosova, Ibrahim Rugova.

However this Republic headed for a decade by Rugova didn’t recognize any state of the international community (1990-1999). De facto and de jure, this was Rugova’s failing policy, because it failed to achieve independence for his people, like did Mahatma Gandhi for his people when India got its independence in 1947 through the political activity and peaceful resistance as “Father of India.”

Everyone must know that Rugova and his failed political party (LDK) for 10 years (1989-1999) didn’t bring independence to Kosova. Only the life genius idea, sacrifice, investment of 28 years in prison and patriotic deeds of Adem Demaci with Kosovo Liberartion Army (KLA). Demaci was supported directly and indirectly by the United States and NATO (24 March – 10 June 1999) when genocidal Serbia was forced to withdraw from Albaanian Kosova.

So thanking Adem Demaçi (Father of Kosova), the KLA, NATO and the EU, Kosovo gained its independence on February 17, 2008.

Because Adem Demaci was not passive like Rugova, he became the historical, political, national and state father of Kosovo.
