Ranbir Kapoor Donates KBC Prize Money to PepsiCo’s Community Water initiatives

Ranbir Kapoor is not only a popular actor but a responsible citizen who is concerned about the world he lives in.

He recently shot for Kaun Banega Crorepati as a contestant and talked about the importance of saving a precious natural resource like water. Ranbir decided to donate his prize money to the Community Water Initiatives by Pepsi’s parent company, PepsiCo India.

“Water is a resource that we all take for granted. We should be more conscious of the importance of water and do our bit to conserve it. I try and save water wherever I can. Simple things make a lot of difference like using a mug for shaving and a bucket to take a bath instead of a running shower. Do your bit by saving water where you can,” Ranbir said.

About his decision to donate the prize money to PepsiCo’s Community Water initiatives, he added, “PepsiCo is a large Food and Beverage Company and you may think they use a lot of water. But in reality they give back more water than they use, which means they are Water Positive. They have many community programmes for water conservation. I am proud to make a small contribution towards it.”

“Ranbir is a youth icon and at PepsiCo India we are proud to be associated with him. We are glad he feels towards the cause of saving water. As a company, PepsiCo is already Water Positive and we return much more water than we use in our businesses. We will ensure that Ranbir’s contribution is utilized well towards water conservation initiatives,” said Manu Anand, Chairman, PepsiCo India Region.

The Kaun Banega Crorepati episode featuring Ranbir Kapoor will air on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 8:30pm.
