Costa Rican Beach Takes Top Travelers Choice Award by TripAdvisor

Costa Rica tourism has been hyper-active over the past few years with numbers far ahead of neighboring countries, they [ICT – Costa Rica Tourism Board] constantly continue to improve through ingenious marketing campaigns. One such campaign was the “Million Dollar Gift of Happiness.” Having recently been recognized in the prestigious 2013 North American Effie Effectiveness Index the evidence is mounting that Costa Rica means business when it comes to tourism.

Last week, it was announced that Manuel Antonio, a famous tourist destination in Costa Rica, had received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award. In fact, of the Top 10 beaches considered, eight of them were in Costa Rica.

The consideration spanned throughout all of Central America and was pole positioned – and ultimately won – by none other than the infamous white sand beach at Manuel Antonio. The second among Central American beaches is Samara, also on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica in the province of Guanacaste.

To qualify for a Certificate of Excellence, locations must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travelers on TripAdvisor, and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.

Located in Manuel Antonio National Park, the beach is situated along the central Pacific coast where, for years, it has dominated as the top tourist destination in the country. Throughout the years the area has really developed yet oddly it has remained extremely biodiverse which lends credence to the quality of the area’s many businesses. Along the stretch coming in to the park are a plethora of Manuel Antonio hotels and resorts. Many of these are extremely eco-conscious and also help contribute to local social initiatives.
