Alabama Humane Society Hosts ‘Paws for St. Paddy’s’ Fundraiser

An Alabama Humane Society will host its annual ‘Paws for St. Paddy’s’ fundraiser event at Gadsden Convention Hall. The event will be held on March 15, and doors open at 5:30 pm.

The BYOB event will be catered by Local Joe’s. Attendees are asked to wear festive casual dress to celebrate the holiday.

The fundraising event will feature silent and live auctions as well as games of chance. Live auctions will include vacations and staycations as prizes, including two one-week trips to Cabo San Lucas. One trip includes a stay at Cabo San Lucas Country Club and Golf Resort, while the other includes a stay at the Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar.

Other live auction items include two round-trip plane tickets to anywhere in the United States; a trip to Sonoma, California’s wine country; and a mountain getaway in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

For those who prefer to stay closer to home, there’s a prize that offers a crawfish boil at the winner’s business or home for up to 20 people. Another prize includes a private party at Tigers for Tomorrow for 20 people, which includes catering and a three-hour concert.

Other live auction prizes include:

  • A dinner party with a five-course meal at the Gregerson’s home with wine from their own private collection.
  • A private wine tasting and food pairing party for 10 people at Stone Market.
  • A bakery-themed party for up 10 people at Creative Cakes and Cookies.
  • A stay at the Historic Redmont Hotel in Birmingham. The prize includes a gift certificate to the hotel restaurant.

Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the prizes that include tickets for the Alabama vs. Texas A&M games as well as the Auburn vs. Tennessee games. These prizes include restaurant gift certificates as well as three-hour limo rides.

The silent auction will include spa packages and baby gift baskets from local animal partners. Other prizes include products, services and gift certificates from local businesses, including home treatments, health spa treatments and HVAC services.

While most of the items are for humans, there are also many pet-related items up for grabs.

Approximately 60-100 items will be auctioned off as part of the silent auction portion of the event. Between 15 and 20 items will be up for grabs in the live auction.

Games of chance will also be available, including a wine pull with a $50 bottle of wine as the prize. The “Best of Live” raffle allows attendees to enter to have a chance at first pick of the best auction packages. Tickets for the raffle are $100.

The “Steak and Booze” raffle offers a Yeti cooler filled with steaks and a barrel full of alcoholic drinks.

The event is the biggest of the year for the Humane Society. The organization is aiming to raise $50,000 with the event. Last year, the shelter’s fundraiser exceeded this goal by quite a bit.

Tickets will be available through March 14 and cost $50. Tickets can be purchased at the HSPRAC on Brooke Ave in Gadsden, or over the telephone.
