The Roosevelts: An Intimate History

A documentary that weaves together the stories of Theodore, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, three members of one of the most prominent and influential families in American politics, who played pivotal roles in shaping modern America. Theodore, the 26th U.S. president, battled corporate greed and built the Panama Canal. FDR, the 32nd U.S. president, stewarded the nation through the Great Depression and World War II. And after her husband’s death, Eleanor essentially became the country’s de facto conscience, championing civil rights, civil liberties and the U.N. Rated 8.9/10 on Rotten Tomatoes.

Ilo Ilo

Set in Singapore, Ilo Ilo follows the day-to-day drama of the Lim family – troublesome Jiale and his parents, Heck and Leng. Comfortably middleclass and with another baby on the way, they hire Teresa, a Filipino immigrant, as a live-in maid and nanny. An outsider in both the family and Singapore itself, Teresa initially struggles to manage Jiale’s antics and find her footing in her new community. The two eventually form a unique bond, but just as Teresa becomes a part of the family, circumstances in an uncertain economy will challenge the family.
