David Guetta Tops the Charts
Global superstar DJ/Producer David Guetta’s new single “Without You” featuring R&B superstar Usher is certified Gold this week, nearing sales of 600,000 digital downloads, reports Bruce Edwin of The Hollywood Sentinel. It is currently #7 on the singles chart with 120,891 sold this week. It also soars into the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 climbing from #11 – #8 and enters the top 10 on the Top 40 airplay charts this week at #9.
“Without You” is the second single from Guetta’s latest album Nothing But The Beat (Capitol Records/Astralwerks) which debuted in the top 5 on the Billboard 200 after it’s August 29th release. The single follows the platinum-selling summer smash “Where Them Girls At” featuring Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida. The album entered the top 5 in twelve different countries, further cementing Guetta’s status as a global superstar, reports The Hollywood Sentinel. The album also includes artists such as Akon, Chris Brown, Dev, Jennifer Hudson, Jessie J, Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Sia, Snoop Dogg, Taio Cruz, Timbaland, and will.i.am, Bruce Edwin reports. Deluxe editions of the album feature six futuristic, electronic, instrumental tracks that illustrate why Guetta is at the top of his game. To date, “Nothing But The Beat” has sold 1.5 million albums and 5 million singles world-wide.
Since the release of “Nothing But The Beat,” Guetta has been touring the globe promoting the album. Last month he headlined New York City’s Electric Zoo festival and also performed at the massive iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas where he was joined onstage by Usher to perform “Without You” for the first time live.
In addition to the release of “Nothing But The Beat,” last month Guetta partnered with algoriddim for the release of the ‘djay – David Guetta Edition’ App for iPhone and iPod touch. The app gives users a complete and portable DJ setup in the palm of their hand with the same tracks and samples Guetta uses himself. The app features twelve exclusive signature sounds, six synth and six drum beats, built in for live mix integration. Five of Guetta’s electro tracks from the deluxe editions of his new album; Lunar, Little Bad Girl Instrumental, Sunshine, Glasgow, and Paris, are also included in the app, The Hollywood Sentinel reports.
