The Busker Kings, an acoustic power trio is adding their harmonies to the Las Vegas strip at Cabo Wabo Cantina. Cabo Wabo, was created by Sammy Hagar through enjoying the coastal town of Cabo San Lucas, and watching a man waddle down the beach after he had one to many drinks. His philosophy states, “Cabo Wabo is a lifestyle.

Something that requires a willingness to enjoy your life and all that makes you happy,” this statement was the reason Sammy Hagar started Cabo Wabo. It is the passion of excellent food preparation combined with great music that makes this cantina one of the hot spots of Las Vegas.

Located just outside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, tourist walking by can enjoy the Busker Kings playing on the patio. The Busker Kings, with Shawn Eifferman, son of the late, George Eifferman, Mr America in 1946 and Mr. Universe in 1964, Ryan White and Beau Doyle, brings the party to the strip, with that laid back beach town feel of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. All three musicians rock the house, while the guest enjoy the sumptuous cuisine of Chef Tacho Kneeland.

The Busker Kings who write their own original songs and play popular rock tunes, are looking forward to their lead singer, Beau Doyle going on The Voice. With all the publicity Beau will receive, it’s a sure winner for Cabo Wabo. I was very surprised when I arrived at Cabo Wabo and felt that Cabo San Lucas feel.

Jason Villafana, the General Manager said his location on the strip lends itself to a festive occasion, especially on a hot day when the misters are on to cool off patrons, while having a drink. The food at Cabo Wabo is selected from venders who deliver it daily. Main entrees, Sammy’s Grilled Shrimp, Chicken tostada salad, and Ahi Tuna Ceviche, are some of the favorites served. I particularly enjoyed the Ahi Tuna Ceviche, which consist of Ahi tuna, chipotle-shallot marinade and crispy tortilla chips. Just as tasty was the Chicken tostada salad with romaine lettuce, blue cheese, tomatoes, avocado, egg, corn, bacon and southwest ranch dressing. Knowing my taste buds, there is always a curiosity about other dishes.

I just had to try the Tortilla soup, prepared with roasted tomato broth with chicken, tortilla strips. a cheese blend, sour cream, cilantro and avocado.Wow, super tasty. In addition to what I tasted with my guest Mark Richards and his friend Cheryl,we also noticed that the menu offers a selection of steaks, burritos, fajitas and such famous specials as the Carnitas Platter, which consist of slow roasted pork,rice,re-fried beans, guacamole and flour tortillas.

Like all folks who dine out, deserts are very popular. Our selection included Bread pudding, which is prepared with rum sauce, golden raisins in a cream sauce, with a scoop of ice cream. That was so good, that by the time I got back from visiting Curtis Swarts, the managing partner, there was just a little left for me.
