Thank you for taking time to speak with us today. Congratulations on your latest song release ‘Wish I could Forget You’. You were born in Canada. Can you tell us a little about life living there?

Of course, and thanks so much! I was born in Victoria, BC. Victoria is on an island called Vancouver Island, just off of Vancouver. It’s a big island though, it takes almost 7 hours to drive tip to tip. Victoria is a very beautiful city, lots of tourism as it’s the capital of BC. Victoria was also named after Queen Victoria actually, as it was one of her favorite cities. It’s very temperate weather-wise so that’s nice too. It only snows for maybe a couple days a year at most, so it’s not as cold as some other parts of Canada.

Can you explain the lyrics to your latest release, ‘Wish I could Forget You’?

‘Wish I Could Forget You’ is about the debate of wanting to follow your heart, going back into a relationship, that has already gone south once, as the guy is asking to start again. But then remembering the pain it caused and not wanting to go through all of that again. It’s about wishing you could forget that person, as it would be easier than having to make the decision of mind over heart.

What inspired the lyrics to this particular song?

This song was actually inspired by a couple of people and various types of relationships within that; be it friendship, romantic or otherwise. Basically, with all of these people, they would be in the takers archetype. The ones that, no matter how much you give, always seems to need more from you and yet you always seem to want to please them. An unhealthy relationship really, and quite toxic, as the connection within these relationships runs very deep.

The title, ‘Wish I Could Forget You’, stems from a conversation I had with a friend regarding one of these relationships when she said don’t you wish you could just forget they even existed? It would make things so much easier. And on hearing that – the title appeared!

The song was produced by Italian born record producer, Patrizio Moi, who has worked with Justin Bieber, Gallant and Krewella this year alone. Can you explain what it was like working with him?

Patrizio is great to work with! He and I have a very similar writing process so there is always a really good flow when working with him. We also both really value the importance of a high-quality project, so the teamwork we have when in process is a really great experience!

Your first big hit was ‘Life of the Party’ and was placed in the movie “Wedding Bells.” Can you tell us a little about that song, and how it became to be a successful release for you?

‘Life of the Party’ was the first song that I ever released. It was produced by Jeff Dawson, who also produced Daniel Powters ‘Bad Day.’ ‘Life of the Party’ was a very enjoyable experience as it’s such an upbeat, fun party song, and of course because it was one of the first songs I ever formally did. Having that song be on “Wedding Bells” definitely helped in its success, along with it being on “Degrassi” as well as another couple of Hallmark movies.

I’m really grateful for having had the opportunity to do that song as I strongly believe it was definitely a marker on my path to where I am today.

Is there any advice you would give to other music artists looking to make a career move?

I would say the biggest thing is to just do it. Life is short and opportunities often only come once, so don’t waste them! If obstacles come up, think about it as the universe trying to teach you how to overcome them.

It can be hard making such a bold decision as to moving, but do you want to look back as an old person and think I wonder what would have happened if? Or I did my best at following my dreams and this was the outcome. Personally, I would choose the latter. It’s not about the destination, but the journey as they say, so no matter what the end point is at least you loved the journey, that’s the important thing.

What’s coming up next for you?

I’m just in the editing process of my music video for ‘Wish I Could Forget You’, so that should be coming up soon, along with some exciting things that I can’t yet reveal, so you’ll want to be on the lookout for those!
