An Exclusive Interview With Connie Maroshek, by Bruce Edwin

Hollywood Sentinel- Bruce Edwin: Who is Connie Maroshek?

Connie Maroshek: A passionate person of independent films.

Hollywood Sentinel: What do you do?

Connie Maroshek: I produce independent films, which involves securing money, talent, distribution, music, etcetera.

Hollywood Sentinel: When did you realize you wanted to do this?

Connie Maroshek: I caught the film bug in April of 2004 and I was addicted.

Hollywood Sentinel: Where did you come from and where did you begin your career?

connie

Connie Maroshek: I am a fourth generation Californian, born in Los Angeles. My great grandfather was a State Senator, in 1910, Senator Savage. He knew Wyatt Earp. His nickname was ‘The Arizona Wildcat,’ so I have heavy roots in early California. I have been working in entertainment all my life, raised around live music, recording studios, from flamenco, classical to rock, and raised around producers, directors, actors, etc. I share a similar passion that musicians do (Connie is also a musician), so it was easy for me to love film.

Hollywood Sentinel: Why should new clients want to work with you?

Connie Maroshek: I am a hard worker who has no ego but is warm. I look at what will sell on the market. I can be trusted to not relay confidential information to others. I am a good listener. I look for the holes in film projects, and work on filling them up. I am very well trusted among my peers.

Hollywood Sentinel: Why is film important to culture, assuming that you think it is?

Connie Maroshek: The single most powerful media distribution channel, besides music, is the movie industry delivering powerful messages for all to learn from. Whether educational, emotional or any genre; film delivers communication to the entire world on what’s going on in the world.

Hollywood Sentinel: What responsibility does the filmmaker have to society, if any?

Connie Maroshek: I think as filmmakers, we are responsible for the effect on the world, and society that we produce from our artistic creation, and that is our evolution as beings to enhance society instead of just creating something dark and disturbing with no hope.

Hollywood Sentinel: What three people have had the most profound impact on your life and how so?

Connie Maroshek: My Mother and Father who gave me old school morals, and principles to live by. And the most incredible flamenco and classical guitarist in the world, (he studied with the famous Romero family), and his name was Mahlon Lucas. Mahlon taught me the beauty of music, and to learn to forgive people – don’t hold a grudge.

Hollywood Sentinel: What is your religion and philosophy any why?

Connie Maroshek: My religion is based on following the Ten Commandments, and practicing them. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Love your fellowman and give him hope where there is none. We are here to serve and help one another.

Hollywood Sentinel: What is your purpose as a human being on this planet?

Connie Maroshek: My purpose is to produce interesting profound feature films, create beautiful music, and continue to flourish and prosper, and help others do the same.

Hollywood Sentinel: How do you want to be be remembered?

Connie Maroshek: As someone who cares about people, and understands how they feel. Someone who lifted people up and gave them hope.

Hollywood Sentinel: Please share with us what you are working on now that you can talk about and anything else you care to discuss.

Connie Maroshek: I am currently working on several film projects that are in various stages of development. One project in particular, is with my dear friends – producer Alex Barkaloff, an independent movie consultant and producer whose clients include Lionsgate, Reliance and many others, and also producer Lisa Roy, who works with Grammy Award winning artists, on a very powerful feature film that sends a profound message to the world. Another feature film project I am working on, a magical adventure, being written and produced by me, will be ready for talent next year.
