Tyler Perry and Olivia Wilde Defend Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian may have found a kindred spirit within Olivia Wilde, whose divorce from Italian prince/filmmaker Tao Ruspoli was finalized at the beginning of October after eight years of marriage.

“People judge you because divorce is seen as failure,” the actress said to The New York Post Tuesday. “No one should be attacking her. Our attention should be focused on things that are truly scandalous.”

Kim, who filed for divorce from Kris Humphries after 72 days of marriage more than two weeks ago, has also found another ally in the form of Tyler Perry, who cast the reality star in The Marriage Counselor about a young woman trying to fix her marriage. Perry’s decision to put Kim in his upcoming film has caused negative feedback from his fans on his website.

However, the writer/producer/director was on the defense, saying that he already had Kim in mind for the role of Ava long before her divorce because Perry believes Kim can bring in a younger audience.

“She literally has millions of young people following her,” he wrote in his blog. “I thought and still do think, that it would be very responsible for her to be a part of this film.

“If one of those young people see this film and find the strength to live a better life and not go through what these characters went through in this movie, then we have all done what I feel I’m being led to do here. I hope you understand. I really do!”

Perry concluded his blog with, “And lastly, because I believe that my films speak from the inside out, why wouldn’t Kim Kardashian be invited into a film about Faith, Forgiveness and the healing power of God? What is wrong with that??”
