14th Annual Rose Varity Show- A Delight
The Rose Breast Cancer Society presented the 14th Annual Rose Variety Arts Show at the Virginia Robinson Gardens estate. This was the first luxury property built in Beverly Hills 1911. The event on a sunny day included an art exhibition by L.A.V.A. ( Los Angeles Visual Artists) headed by Founder/ President Esperansa Luna, Sculpture by Stella, Designs by SASH, jewelry by Marie and the sounds of the 3rd Wave Band trio.
Contessa of London and Suzette Kendricks, Megan Butler were stationed to greet guests who were directed to expanse of green lawn and Olympic sized pool, archways of roses until they reached the tennis court covered with tables in pink decor and shelter.
The luncheon buffet was catered by award winning Chef Marilyn. Master of Ceremonies Hank Garrett, star of hit T.V. series “Car 54 Where are You?” provided humor for the program which included an invocation by Cantor Estherleon Schwartz, welcome address by Carmelita Pittman, the Founder and Executive Director who also sang “La Vie en Rose.”
Presentation of The RBCS Lifetime Achievement award was given to Raul R. Rodriguez a.k.a. “Mr. Rose Parade,” the creator of over 500 floats, and Angel of the Year Award to Dr. Cherilyn Lee, keynote speaker.
Southern Calif. Motion Picture Council Vice President Bee Beyer and board member Audrey “Angel” Sherborne spoke of their victory over cancer. Dignitaries included the legendary Oscar winning actress Margaret O’Brien and film star Randal Malone, President of the Southern California Motion Picture Council. Both Jarvee Hutcherson, Founder/President of MMPA and Mr. Malone, former recipients of the Angel of the Year Award and avid supporters of The Rose Breast Cancer Society celebrated their birthdays.
Shaun Baker, Jackie Goldberg a.k.a. the Pink Lady, Senior Senator Pasqual Bettio (ret.), Joe Cassini, Bella Shaw, Patricia St. James, tennis star Jan Sullivan, Baroness Danute, Evelyn Bernstein, Frank Tyson, Mahason, David Levi Harrison, Diane LeMoine, Audrey Franklin, Alison Barlow, Estie Danny and several others were in attendance. Bella Shaw, former CNN Anchor and long time friend of Carmelita Pittman said she was delighted with what The Rose Breast Cancer Society missions in creating cancer awareness.
