I remember the first time I saw Ian McShane on the TV, on A&E. It was in an amazing TV series called Lovejoy. Lovejoy was an antiques dealer, a loveable rogue, and he was so good, and so natural that Ian McShane must really have been Lovejoy in real life. Actually, Sally was in love with him, and once she found Lovejoy, we couldn’t miss an episode – not until the series ended!
McShane was born in Blackburn, England, a little north and west from where I was born, in Sheffield. It is amazing how often small connections draw you to people. Now he lives in the US, just south of where I spent the last 15 years. We’re not following him, really.
According to Ian McShanes’s IMDB bio, he has appeared in more than 30 movies, and just a few years ago, he debuted on Broadway. He’s a versatile man.
He won a Golden Globe in the “Best actor in a TV show” category, for his portrayal in the HBO show “Deadwood,” playing the role of Al Swearengen, a saloon and brothel owner. He is also well known for his role as Blackbeard, in the fourth “Pirates of the Caribbean” blockbuster.
I was particularly pleased today, to receive a flood of fantastic photos of Ian McShane, from star photographer, Manfred Baumann, who always does amazing work. I’m sure Sally will be pleased to see these too!
Manfred says the photo shoot with Ian McShane, who is personally very interested in photography, took place in Beverly Hills, at NIC’s restaurant, close to Rodeo Drive. Manfred says he really likes Nic’s – it was Dean Martin’s favorite restaurant.
