Talent manager Bruce Edwin (Producer and CEO of Starpower Management) was spotted Friday night with his client Tracy Reiner for Universal Pictures 100th Anniversary commemorating the studio and some of their top grossing films.

Apollo 13, which stars Tom Hanks, Ed Harris, Gary Senise, Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, Tracy Reiner, Kathleen Qunilan, Mary Kate Schellhardt, and Emily Ann Lloyd among others, centers on the true story of the Apollo 13 NASA mission in which astronauts were scheduled to land on the moon, but a minor engineering flaw made the mission a matter of life and death-even moreso than the usual remarkable space flight.

The edge of the seat action and drama space film Apollo 13 is not only about the greatness a person can achieve, but winning against all odds and making what most think of as impossible-happen. A two time Oscar winning film, the picture grossed over 334 million dollars nearly twenty years ago back in 1995. (That gross would be closer to a half a billion today with inflation). Made for under 100 million, the motion picture was directed by one of the best American directors and talents of our time- Ron Howard, who pushes boundaries with his vision and perspective as an auteur director and stellar producer. Apollo 13 is widely considered as one of the greatest American films ever made- and rightly so. It is a message not only of the greatness of America, American technology, and the brilliance of NASA, but also, of the fierce, unstoppable determination of American willpower and determination in the face of adversity- and an optimism that knows no bounds.

In one such example of dialogue in the film, a government official states, “This could be the worst disaster NASA’s ever faced…” while Ed Harris’ character Gene Kranz replies, “With all due respect sir, I believe this is going to be our finest hour!”

Universal Pictures, one of the most important and legendary major motion pictures studios in the world, has given us such lauded films as ‘Back to the ‘Future,’ ‘Jaws,’ ‘Dracula,’ ‘Showboat,’ ‘Pillow Talk,’ ‘The Birds,’ and ‘The Sting’ among many more. Headed by Ron Meyer, the studio was founded by producer Carl Laemmle.

Tracy Reiner, an American actor, writer, director and producer who has starred ‘A League of Their Own’ in addition to ‘Apollo 13,’ among many other films, is also the step daughter of legendary writer, producer, director Rob Reiner (creator of the classic film ‘Stand By Me’ among many more). She is also daughter of the iconic and groundbreaking writer, producer, director, and actress Penny Marshall (director of the classic film ‘Big’, and ‘A League of Their Own,’ among many others, and star of the legendary T.V. show ‘Laverne and Shirley’ among more). Tracy Reiner and her manager Bruce Edwin were then spotted at the after party for Universal hosted by UCLA’s School of Film and Television, where legendary cast and crew of the picture in addition to select NASA team were treated to endless food, drink, dessert, and gifts.

Manager and producer Bruce Edwin states, “Apollo 13 in truly an incredible film, and seeing it for the first time on the big screen gives me a whole new level of appreciation for this film and what it was about. I have always been a fan of NASA and space exploration, but seeing this again gives me a whole new respect for the incredibly brave astronauts that shoot into outer space to push the edge and boundaries of human achievement. They are incredible human beings, and NASA and American space exploration needs expanded- not contracted. Further, I am reminded of a whole new appreciation of our great client Tracy Reiner. It’s an honor to work with her and also call her a friend. Tracy Reiner is a brilliant human being whose intelligence and talent are truly amazing.”
