90210 Season 5 DVD Review

Before checking out the next generation on the CW, see how and why 90210 is the most famous zip code ever on television with season five, now available on DVD.

After four seasons of causing trouble both on and off the set, Hollywood bad girl Shannon Doherty says goodbye to Beverly Hills. Her character, Brenda Walsh, goes to London to pursue acting. But rest assured, it’s been confirmed that both Doherty and Brenda will make a comeback this fall on the new series.

Season five finds the gang of Beverly Hills going into their sophomore year at California University making new friends, pursuing new relationships — and getting into trouble. The show continues to tackle topics such as drugs, gang violence, and rape on campus.

Moving to 90210 is Saved by the Bell good girl Tiffani-Amber Thiessen as the Walshes’ niece, Valerie Malone: a complete 180 from Kelly Kapowski. Valerie successfully fills the void of being the bad girl of 90210, as she drinks, does drugs, lies, schemes, goes after other women’s boyfriends, and causes trouble between friends.

Season five finds Brandon (Jason Priestley) and Kelly (Jennie Garth) involved — with Dylan Mckay (Luke Perry) in the mix, leaving Kelly to make a difficult choice between the good guy and the bad boy (more than once!). And speaking of Dylan, he’ll be fallen on hard times both financially and personally, causing him to face his inner demons and getting his life back on track.

David (Brian Austin Green) and Donna (Tori Spelling) break up –but it won’t be the last. David dates good bad girl Clare Arnold (Kathleen Robertson). Donna falls hard for poor but handsome singer Ray Pruit (Jamie Walters) — in more ways than one, as their relationship goes from two people falling in love despite being from different worlds to one that is volatile and abusive.

Andrea (Gabrielle Carteris) juggles between college, being a new mother to her baby girl, and a new wife to budding lawyer Jesse (Mark Damon Espinoza) — but their marriage will be tested due to temptations. What happens will either make or break them and their family.

The original group will lose another one this season, as Carteris will be leaving 90210, but so will James Eckhouse and Carol Potter as Jim and Cindy Walsh.

It is the next chapter of friendship, passion, and fun for the gang, with season five of Beverly Hills, 90210, now available on DVD.
