Channing Tatum Seeks Joint Custody After Failed Marriage With Jenna Dewan

Celebs are people just like the rest of us, and their failed marriages can be just as messy. According to court documents from the almost year-long divorce proceedings, Channing Tatum is seeking joint custody with soon-to-be ex-wife Jenna Dewan.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but the most important issues seem close to being finalized. Channing and Dewan were married for eight years, and both parents have used the spotlight to tell the public they are moving forward, not backward.

The 38-year-old Tatum and Dewan can’t seem to agree on how to split their time between their 5-year-old daughter, Everly, which has slowed the process down significantly. Joint custody is the most likely outcome for two successful parents, but how the custody will be arranged is anyone’s guess.

Channing Tatum Court Request

Tatum asked the court to approve a schedule that would allow each of the parents to see Everly every other weekend and during the week, while spending more significant chunks of time with their daughter over the summer.

They would alternate holidays, excluding Halloween; he thinks they should suck it up and spend the day together. Tatum argued they might celebrate Everly’s birthdays together, or perhaps each take half a day.

Channing Tatum Dating

In the meantime, Tatum and Dewan have returned to the world of dating. Tatum was seen with singer Jessie J. since at least October 2018, but rumors circulated since at least March the same year. Tatum said he plans to “support Jessie J in every way.”

At the same time, Dewan started to date Tony-winning actor Steve Kazee, best known for his performance in the musical Once. She said she does “believe in love still” because of the new relationship. Congratulations are in order for all four, and here’s to hoping the ongoing divorce proceedings will wrap up quickly.

Acting Career Not In Focus

For now, people seem surprisingly less interested in Tatum’s acting career than his relationships. The cinematic flop of Fantastic Four made it more difficult to justify a subsequent Gambit film, the script for which had already been written. How long must we wait to see Tatum’s most popular character in action as the lead? At this point, it might not happen at all. Tatum’s Gambit isn’t set to appear in the newest X-Men movie, Dark Phoenix, due out in theaters on June 7.
