Web Search With Google Instant Previews

Google announced the formal entrance of Google Instant Previews on Tuesday. It’s not Google Instant.

The Google Instant introduced in September shows results as you type. The new Google Instant Previews gives you a look at snap-shots of web sites without leaving the results page.

“Instant Previews provides a graphic overview of a search result and highlights the most relevant sections, making finding the right page as quick and easy as flipping through a magazine,” Google Product Manager Raj Krishnan.

Google Instant Previews has to be enabled. A small magnifying glass sits at the right of every Google search result. Click on it to start using. The right arrow key allows use of Google Instant Previews too.

The preview thumb-nail for a page pops-up. Each preview shows a current view of the page, with text, graphics and what else that would be present on a full sized image. Click on the thumbnail, and Google takes you to the site. Move your mouse anywhere else within the search results, Google loads previews for other pages in the list.

Text pertaining to a search starts an orange highlighted pop out box within the preview so the words can be read.
