Neato Launches Assistant-Enabled Botvac D7 in North America and Europe

Neato Robotics has announced the launch of its assistant-enabled robot vacuum Botvac D7 Connected across North American and Europe.

The company’s flagship vacuum was first announced at IFA 2017 last August in Berlin.

The Botvac D7 Connected improves on the company’s previous models in the Connected series and offers integration with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Apple Watch and IFTTT.

The model uses laser navigation to scan multiple rooms in the home and plan the quickest clean-up route. The vacuum’s D shape allows it to easily navigate corners, crevices and along walls. On a single charge, the Botvac D7 can clean up to 5,000 square feet of space.

“We believe our new flagship robot, the Neato Botvac D7 Connected, is a significant step forward for the in home robotic vacuum market,” said Matt Peterson, CEO of Neato, in a press release. “The Botvac D7 Connected comes with Neato FloorPlanner™, and features the coveted ‘No-Go’ Lines functionality. What’s most exciting is that future software enhancements will relentlessly keep improving the way the robot vacuum performs and interacts with consumers. Our mission at Neato, is to create products that seamlessly fit into customers’ lives, and that’s why we continue to innovate to deliver on this goal. At Neato we are constantly looking at how we can work harder to understand consumers’ needs, to create products that solve real problems, and give them cleaner healthier homes.”

The new FloorPlanner feature allows users to set virtual No-Go lines, which keep the robot from moving into unwanted areas. The No-Go lines can be established using a smartphone and remove the need for a physical barrier.

The Botvac D7 Connected can be controlled via the Neato App for Android and iOS. The app offers alerts to users as well as a cleaning summary with detailed Coverage Maps. These maps allow users to see exactly where the vacuum has cleaned.

With a high price tag of $799, the Botvac D7 Connected is geared towards smart home enthusiasts who want the best robotic vacuum around.

The announcement of the Neato’s robotic vacuum launch comes on the same day Eureka announced its new line of conventional vacuum cleaners. The line is geared toward the everyday consumer who wants traditional upright or handheld vacuums.

The new line of vacuums will be on display at the 2018 International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago.

The new lineup will include the Eureka PowerSpeed Turbo Spotlight with Swivel Plus, the Eureka PowerSpeed Turbo Spotlight and the Eureka PowerPlush Lightweight Cordless.

The cordless vacuum, while smaller than the other models in the line-up, promises to deliver full-sized cleaning power. It also includes a soft brushroll for hard floors.

“Almost everyone can recall having had a Eureka vacuum in their home, yet after more than 100 years of innovation, we are just getting started,” says Ting Ting Cheng, Midea America Vice President. “We are innovating in technology and design like never before to bring consumers products that are powerful, multi-purpose, and affordable to fit every lifestyle.”

The Eureka PowerSpeed Turbo Spotlight vacuums are now available on Amazon, and the cordless model will hit virtual shelves in April. All of the vacuums will be available in physical stores by May.
