KEMET, Modelithics Partner on RF and Microwave Engineers Global Capacitor Models

KEMET Corporation, a manufacturer of tantalum, ceramic, aluminum, film, paper and electrolytic capacitors, and Modelithics partner to provide highly accurate and scalable Global models of KEMET’s CBR Series of capacitors, sizes 0201, 0402, 0603, and 0805, for RF and microwave applications.

As an innovation for this work, aimed at improved design centering, Modelithics used actual low frequency capacitance of parts used for RF model development instead of assumed nominal part value. Measured and validated up to 20 GHz, the models are now available from Modelithics. Single-substrate S-parameters can also be downloaded for free from this same area.

“Customers and design engineers can use these models for circuit simulations to accurately predict various electrical parameters while using KEMET’s HiQ-CBR capacitors in their circuits,” stated Dr. Abhijit Gurav, KEMET Vice President, Ceramic Technology. “This is critical in enabling customers to design circuits with superior capabilities at the lowest cost as well as reducing design cycles and time.”

“We are very pleased to have teamed with KEMET to develop these accurate, highly flexible Global Models for KEMET’S complete HiQ CBR capacitor line,” stated John Fisher, Modelithics Vice President of Operations. “Combining KEMET’S HiQ CBR capacitors and Modelithics’ Global Models will reduce design cycle time for achieving high performance in new designs.”

KEMET applies world class service and quality to deliver industry leading, high performance capacitance solutions to its customers around the world and offers the world’s most complete line of surface mount and through-hole capacitor technologies across tantalum, ceramic, film, aluminum, electrolytic, and paper dielectrics.

Modelithics, Inc. formed in 2001 to address the industry-wide need for high-accuracy RF and microwave active and passive simulation models for use in Electronic Design Automation.

He was a sergeant in signals and after that, he was a printer who typeset magazines and books on his linotype machine. Those skills were passed on to Alan and his brothers, who all worked for Telecom Australia, on more advanced signals (communications). After studying electronics, communications, and computing at college, and building and repairing all kinds of electronics, Alan switched to programming and team building and management.
