Apple’s Motivations for Android Platform Creating a Stir in Internet World

The divide between Apple and Android users may be narrowing. Apple has quietly announced ambitions to bring some of its apps to Google’s Android market.

Apple has brought some of its best products to other platforms before. The company famously launched the iTunes for Windows in 2003. Apple’s former CEO Steve Jobs remarked that “it’s probably the best Windows app ever written.”

Speculation about Apple’s motivations for the Android platform heightened on 5 August when reports surfaced that Apple listed a job post to recruit Android developers.

Apple’s reigning CEO, Tim Cook, said that “Apple has no religious issue porting an iOS app to Android” but that Apple would consider it “if it made sense.”

How could Apple benefit from spreading the app wealth to Android?

The benefits of spreading the Apple love to Android with an app development company are numerous. Apple could cash in on profits from iTunes with users who are currently unsatisfied with Google Play. Another popular Apple feature, iMessage, could also become a big hit on Android, especially in light of unfavorable issues with platforms like Whatsapp.

It is one way of beginning to convert the Android market. Apple can tease Android users about what Apple has to offer without requiring commitment on the part of the consumer.

The move may also benefit current Apple users who own an Android device. If Apple were to share its iCloud app with the Android market, it would provide a convenient way for their current customers to connect their devices.

As Apple remains secretive about its plans, there will continue to be speculation across the market. People are already wondering about the technicalities surrounding design and development.

When Apple launched iTunes for Windows, the software functioned the same way as it did on its home operating system. However, development for the Android market may prove to be more difficult.

Apple will continue its infamous radio silence until it is ready to launch. Regardless of Apple’s intentions, the market can expect Apple fans to be lining up around the block for whatever is next.
