Two men wanted in connection with a brutal attack in Folsom’s Historic District were arrested by Folsom Police Detectives yesterday. The two men, 24-year-old Michael Carrillo and 26-year-old Angelo Phillips, both of Sacramento, were wanted for felony assault.
Angelo Phillips was also arrested for additional charges, including felony probation violation, felony possession of marijuana for sale, and felony transportation of marijuana for sale.
On February 13, 2008, at approximately 1:30 am, the victims of the attack were walking to their car when words were exchanged with another individual. The male victim was beaten by both Carrillo and Phillips until the victim was unconscious. The female victim attempted to help the male victim and was punched and knocked to the ground by Carrillo. Before fleeing the scene, Phillips walked back to the male victim and kicked him in the head. Both men fled the scene in a silver Mercedes C230.
On Monday morning, June 9, 2008, after seeing the news stories, Carrillo turned himself in to the Folsom Police Department on his own accord.
The Folsom Police Department also received several tips from viewers identifying Carrillo as the person of interest. Detectives were also able to identify the second suspect, Phillips, and arrested him without incident in Sacramento County.
Detectives searched Phillips car, a silver Mercedes C230, and found marijuana and other paraphernalia affiliated with narcotic sales.
The Folsom Police Department thank the Sacramento news media and public who were instrumental in helping identify theses individuals.
