Collision Outside City Slickers Sports Bar and Grill Leaves One Dead

A collision involving a truck and pedestrian outside a Folsom sports bar has left the pedestrian dead and the driver of the truck hospitalized.

At about 1:40 am the Folsom Police Department received a 911 call reporting that a man had been struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of City Slickers Sports Bar and Grill at 97 Natoma Street. The vehicle which struck the man left the area. When officers arrived they found a critically injured adult male. Folsom Fire personnel arrived within minutes and declared the man dead at the scene. The release of his identity is being withheld pending the notification of his next-of-kin by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Within fifteen minutes of the first call, a woman called the police department reporting that her father-in-law had been assaulted outside of City Slickers. Officers went to the caller’s home and discovered a vehicle matching the hit and run suspect vehicle parked outside. The caller’s father-in-law suffered from injuries requiring medical attention. Folsom Fire transported him to a local hospital where he was admitted for treatment.

Folsom Police Major Accident Response Team (MART) is investigating the collision and the possible correlation to an argument involving the deceased and the driver of the truck. Investigators are asking for anyone with information about this collision to contact the Folsom Police Department at 916-351-3553.

UPDATE

NewsBlaze has learned that the driver of the truck has fully co-operated with the police so far.

The driver of the truck is a 58 year old man who apparently has chronic heart problems. He was in fear for his life during the altercation in the parking lot.

The man who was killed assaulted the driver and in the process of the driver trying to get away, the attacker was apparently run over. The attacker had pulled the driver out of his truck before it was started, punching the driver in the face and throwing him to the ground, where he was kicked in the head.

The driver managed to get back to the drivers seat and tried to drive away. The attacker continued to try and get in the vehicle compartment and was apparently caught by the front wheel as the driver attempted to back out of the parking space and get away.

The driver went directly to his home, about two blocks away, and a call was made to the authorities and a statement given to the police.

The driver was then taken to the local hospital by Folsom Fire Paramedics, where he was treated for his injuries.

At this time, the initial cause of this incident is unknown.
