How to Make Your New Year’s Resolution Green and Friendly

Throughout the month of January, World of Green, an online eco-friendly retailer, will announce different green living tips along with a corresponding eco-friendly product giveaway on their website www.worldofgreen.com, Facebook and Twitter. This different approach expects to change people’s habit of making New Year’s resolutions, but as the year goes along, do not keep them.

World of Green will share 31 Daily Green Tips & Giveaways showing people tangible ways to make permanent change in 2011.

Roberta Modena, founder and CEO of World of Green said that these tips hope to have a direct impact on the environment by making it easier to people.

“We wanted to motivate people to make a green resolution that will directly impact the environment because most people will make a change if it’s easy, affects something beyond themselves, and feels good,” says Modena.

The green living tips will give people real solutions on how to improve their own health and the health of the planet.

For example, in health, weight-loss goals are on everyone’s mind every start of the New Year. World of Green has partnered with organic, whole food nutrition business, Garden of Life, to showcase fucoTHINA. It is a safe, non-stimulant, and effective weight loss supplement that is made from seaweed, which is a staple in many Asian diets.

This clinically-researched fat burner is featured in the “Weigh in on This” tip on January 2nd along with effective weight loss strategies. Plus, one lucky winner will win a year’s supply of fucoTHINA on January 31st to culminate the giveaway.

Other green living tips, like “Banish BPA” remind people to buy plastics, like storage containers, free of toxic chemicals bisphenol-A and phthalates. These are known to be linked to a higher incidence of heart disease, diabetes and liver abnormalities in adults and hormone development problems in children. World of Green will give away a set of safe, lead-free, BPA-free containers from CitizenPip, which offers safe plastic containers which are free of BPA & phthalates.

There are also tips that address lifestyle changes that people should be doing, but in the course of their busy schedules, needed some reminding. Reminders like “Get Wise on Water” – Having difficulty meeting the “8 x 8 rule” of drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day for proper health? If you didn’t get a reusable drinking bottle from Santa this year, we suggest a “filtered” one.

Filtered water bottles are wise investment in 2011 because it’s much cheaper than buying bottled water or investing in a water purifier, it reduces recycling, and it travels.

“Sustainable living is not just about doing things healthy for the environment, it’s about improving our own personal health and sustaining that so we become a healthier population and a healthier nation. Living green and living healthy go hand in hand,” says Modena.
