Two Top DNRF Leaders Arrested in Guwahati


Guwahati, July 4: Security forces apprehended two top leaders of the Dimasa National Revolutionary Front (DNRF) in Guwahati on Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday.

“Acting on a tip-off, a team of Guwahati city police had launched a search operation at Ananda Nagar area under Noonmati police station in the city on Tuesday night and arrested a self styled deputy c-in-c of the outfit group,” a police official said.

The arrested top leader of the outfit was identified as Manjit Phanglo alias Main Dimasa.

Police recovered one point 32 pistol, ammunitions from his possession.

“The militant was hiding at the area in past a month and operating organizational activities,” police said.

Police also nabbed another militant of the outfit group, named Nilesh Thousen alias Thairing Dimasa in the city.

DNRF is active in Dima Hasao district.

Recently, four hardcore cadres of the outfit were killed in an encounter with security forces in the hill district.
