Two Persons Killed, Three Injured in Assam Blast

At least two persons were killed and three others injured, when a grenade was thrown into their house, in Assam’s Sivsagar district, causing a powerful explosion on Friday morning, police said.

The explosion took place in the Sepon Bazar area near Moran in the oil-rich Upper Assam district. Two people were killed on spot.

“Suspected ULFA(I) militants lobbed a grenade targeting the house of a businessman named Bijon Agarwala. In the explosion two people were killed and three others at the house were injured,” a top police official said.

The militants escaped from the area after lobbing the grenade.

The deceased duo were identified as Chitu Agarwala and Dimbeswar Bhuyan.

The injured persons were admitted to Assam Medical College hospital in Dibrugarh.

Top police officials rushed to the area and started an investigation.
