Two Notorious GNLA Militants Nabbed

Two hardcore militants of Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) were apprehended by security forces from West Garo Hills in Meghalaya on Monday, police said on Tuesday.

“The militants were arrested from the Purakhasia area along with the Bangladesh border,” a police official said.

The arrested militants were identified as Mathew Sangma and Chukat Sangma.

Police recovered one pistol and a revolver, live ammunitions and documents from their possession.

GNLA is active in Garo hills area and reportedly setting up few camps along the Bangladesh border.

The outfit group has been in close relation with anti-talk faction group of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) and National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB).
