Two NDFB(S) Killed By Assam Forces in Sonitpur, One Arrested in Chirang

Two hardcore NDFB(S) militants gun down in Sonitpur

On Wednesday Security forces killed two hardcore NDFB(S) militants in the Sonitpur district or Assam.

A Guwahati-based defence spokesman said a tip-off led Assam Rifles troops and police launched a joint operation in the Lakhipathar area of North Assam district.

“When security personnel reached the remote area, the militants started the gunfire and the police retaliated resulting in two militants to be killed on the spot,” the defence spokesman said.

After this encounter, the security forces recovered an AK-47 rifle, one magazine, ten rounds of fired cartridges, one Chinese hand grenade, five rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition from the dead militants.

The militants were identified as Sohiasula and Ratan.

Sohiasula was the deputy commander of the militant group and Ratan was Sergeant Najor.

Then, on Saturday, security forces arrested another NDFB(S) militant from Assam’s Chirang district.

Thanks to a tip-off, officers from the Runikhata police station launched an operation in the Santipur area and arrested the militant and recovered a 9mm pistol with four rounds of live ammunition.

Police identified the militant as Manoj Narzary.
