Three Hardcore KPLT Militants Killed in Assam Encounter

Three hardcore militants of Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers (KPLT) were killed in an encounter with security forces in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday, police said.

The encounter took place at Deithor area under Bokajan sub-division in the district, where three militants were killed on the spot and security forces recovered arms-ammunitions.

Reports say a joint team of police and army launched a search operation at Deithor area in the wee hours, where a militant group was hiding.

“When we reached the area, the militant group opened fire and bullets were exchanged, in which three militants were killed on the spot and four others managed to escape,” an official of Karbi Anglong police said.

Security forces recovered two AK-47 rifle with magazines and ammunitions in possession of the slain militants.

For the last few weeks, 10 hardcore militants of the group were killed in gun battle during an encounter with security forces in the district.
