Termination of Minister Khorsing Engti From Assam Cabinet Draws Controversy

Diphu: Nothing is definite at the Karbi Anglong district congress since last fortnight concerning the ousting of present Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Joy Ram Engleng and bickering within KADCC pertaining to the removal of Hill Areas Development Minister Khorsing Engti from Assam cabinet.

Two successive parliamentary meeting of the party in presence of MP hill areas Biren Sing Engti and Khorsing Engti has failed to yield any result so far. The meeting held at the residence of Biren Sing Engti in presence of Ronjon Bora APCC general secretary yesterday evening made no difference.

Around 8:00 PM yesterday Bora told the waiting press persons after the meeting that all allegations against seating CEM has been withdrawn by the congress MACs (member of autonomous council) and if needed the party will consider about alteration of the CEM. However unofficially it was decided that Joy Ram Engleng will hand over his resignation to the Chairman of KAAC today and pave the way for next aspirant Tuli Ram Ronghang but nothing happened as expected by the district congress leaders. Till filing of this report Engleng didn’t submit his resignation keeping the whole matter suspended.

“Why should Engleng resign from his post when he clearly enjoys the conditional support of three MLA, MP and half of the congress MAC, beside that 8 opposition MAC have also pledge their support for Engleng. Most importantly congress MACs do not have any allegation against him, in such a situation seeking his resignation is quite ridicules,” said one of the influential EM of Engleng’s executive committee.

Reports say the initiative taken by Minister Khorsing Engti and his henchman’s to force the resignation of present CEM is a tactic to divert public attention of the present political crisis of the Minister himself, who wants to pitch the whole council into an economic and political turmoil by dissolving the executive committee before the festive season ahead

Although a section of district congress high-ups endeavor to force the resignation of Engleng within the party forum is continuing but tough stand of the CEM may foil the coup d’etat of the now turned political antagonistic of Joy Ram Engleng.
