Six Killed in Assam Road Accident

At least six people including a women were killed and three others injured in two separate road mishaps in Assam on Sunday night, police said on Monday.

The first incident took place at Lekhapani area near Ledo in Tinsukia district on the wee hours of Monday, where four people including a women were killed and three others injured.

“The incident occured around 4 am on Monday when head-on collision between a maruti van (AS-25-8647) on way to Margherita from Jagun and a mini truck, travelling in opposite direction,” a police official said.

The van burnt after the accident and three passengers of the vehicle died on spot.

The injured four passengers had rushed to local hospital, but dotor decleared dead one of them.

Among the victims three were identified as Ranjita Sinha, Biju Barman and Umesh Das.

Meanwhiles, two bikers died on spot when a speedy bike (AS-01-AW-9018) hit a road wall at Rakminigaon area in Guwahati on Sunday night.
